Every culinary ethusiast follows the iconic culinary competition of MasterChef and in Bulgaria we are not an exception. Our Rosey’s mark team members ourselves have watched with interest the 4-th season of the TV show MasterChef Bulgaria and we ended up with a list of remarkable participants we are about to follow with their culinary paths also in future. One of the faces we find most memorable is smiling Savina Nikolova, with her attention to ingredients’ provenance and quality. And the fact that she devotes herself to ice cream, again with great attention to ingredients used and the process of making natural artisan gelato. Having said that, it’s not surprising that we immediately accepted the invitation for Savini Gelato grand opening some months ago.
Not even two months after we met Savina in person, we are delighted to share our first mutual project. And we know you won’t be surprised if we tell you that it’s about ice cream with roses, but what an ice cream! Before we fall into details about our newest gelato flavor, here some words we exchanged with Savina.
Rosey’s mark: Tell us something more about your occupation and about Savini Gelato.
Savina: After I have graduated in advertising and communication in Milan, I wanted to create a project of my own in food industry, in the root of which stands man. Ice cream was the thing that had impressed me the most and I wanted to dedicate myself to it. I have created the first artisan gelateria in Bulgaria and since several months I put all my energy in Savini where we make the so called nutritious or functional gelato with organic ingredients and super foods. My idea is to offer a product not only tasty but a product that brings certain positive charge because it’s made with a good conscience, without compromising with the ingredients.
Rosey’s mark: Your opinion on the place of roses in food and cooking?
Savina: In Bulgaria we are used to neglect the things we possess in terms of cultural and terroir heritage. I wish that changes. The rose has ever been a powerful symbol for Bulgaria. Thinking about typical aroma and flavor from our home territories, I couldn’t miss in my mind the scenary of blooming rose fields and then of pastures with sheep… That’s how the ice cream flavor of sheep yogurt and organic rose oil was born.
Rosey’s mark: Why did you choose to propose us to create something together? Why do you like Rosey’s mark?
Savina: We like you idea for a project with products that idolize the Bulgarian rose in an adequate and intelligent way. And we believe that awesome people must support each other.
Well. we also believe that cool people with similar way of thinking and doing can create awesome things together. That’s why we are impatient to present the irresistible, captivating, unmatchable taste of sheep yougurt ice cream with organic rose oil!
And the best news is you can taste that unique flavor this weekend in Sofia. Look for us on the 9-th and 10-th of June during Bacchus StrEAT fest, the street food gourmet festival of the city.
