The rose is one of the most special flowers. From first sight it is delicate, beautiful, joyful with its presence. Especially when it’s a gift made with love. Especially when it’s the Bulgarian oil-bearing rose and you know it’s an edible flower.
The perfect cup of rose tea
Let’s start from that – how to prepare the ultimate rose tea – light, fragrant and floral. For a 250 ml cup you need one table spoon of dried rose blossom. Pour over hot but not boiling water. The ideal water temperature is 85-90°C. Cover and wait for 4-6 minutes, so that the rose gives away its aromas and the containing rose oil. The infusion time may vary according to the intensity of flavor you are after. We recommend you drink your rose tea pure, without sweeteners. If you prefer you can add sugar, or honey and lemon but don’t forget that will change its taste.
Digest and forget about stress
If you leave the roses in your cup doing their magic longer than 5-6 minutes, don’t worry about it. In that case you will end up with more intense flavored tea and, together with the containing rose oil, the functional benefits of the rose will be extracted. This cup of tea will support your peristalsis and speeding up digestion might be useful in times of more sitting and less moving. We will also share a secret from the kitchen of herbology – for those benefits the rose is often used in weight-loss herbal blends.
A sip of love and joy
For centuries the rose is a symbol of love and that’s well deserved. One of the many benefits of rose tea is in his aphrodisiac effects. Sipping from a hot tea cup we feel calm and a smile appears to our face. That’s not coincidence – in aromatherapy the rose is the strongest antidepressant known. If we add to that the view of Bulgarian Valley of roses in months May and June, when the first morning sun rays welcome the blooming and fragrant roses… we can dive in that relaxing mood that will chase the stress away.
According to Ayurveda
According to the ancient Hindu system for holistic health, rose tea is suitable in times with risk of flu and cold. Also in periods of stress and moments of decreasing mood. In addition, the rose tea consumption has beneficial effects on skin and helps detox.
And more
The rose tea has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects. And in cosmetics and pharmaceutical laboratories the rose and the oil extracted from the flower are used for their anti-aging properties.
Now, we need to stop here because we want to go and make some rose tea.
